Resources

Fonts & Typography

  • greektyping.com: Online program to practice typing in Greek
  • New Athena Unicode: Standard Greek Font, distributed by the Society for Classical Studies
  • SBL Greek: Font produced by the SBL-Font-Foundation and used by the German Bible Society. Designed for use with the Greek NT.
  • Cavafy Script: Produced in 2014 by the Onassis Foundation, the Cavafy Script reproduces the style of Greek calligraphy practiced by the Greek poet C.P. Cavafy (1863-1933).

Dictionaries

  • Logeion: For Greek, you can run integrated searches through Liddell and Scott’s Greek-English Lexicon (1940) and Slater’s Lexicon to Pindar (1969). Results also from Autenrieth’s Homeric Dictionary (1891). Amazing number of Latin resources as well, both Classical and Medieval.
  • Abbreviations founds in LSJ: Not a dictionary per se but a tool to make use of the tools.

Textbook Specific Resources

  • Vocabulary by Chapter: Full chapter vocabulary WITH accents, articles, and genitive endings which are not in textbook.
  • BibleInsights: YouTube Playlist that explains aspects of each chapter.
  • Cambridge U. Press Official Book Resource Page: n.b. This is useless and only listed to shame the publisher for promising a whole slew of online resources on the back of the book that are not actually present.

General Digital Resources

  • Open Greek & Latin:
  • Verbum: For those with deep pockets, Verbum provides an interface that makes research easier for some.
